The mechanical hordes have overrun the irradiated deserts of Planet X—their factories churning, their networks expanding. Finn, a grizzled scavenger with a plasma torch grafted to his arm, and Bonnie, a rogue astrophysicist jury-rigging drones from scrap, are the last resistance. Survival demands more than grit. They comb derelict warships, hack abandoned armories, and barter with smugglers to amass a chaotic arsenal: singularity grenades, railguns fueled by reactor cores, AI-targeting bows that split into homing shards. But raw firepower isn’t enough. Using Bonnie’s prototype fusion module, they dismantle, merge, and mutate their gear—welding a cryo-cannon to a flamethrower to shatter armor with thermal shock, grafting drone swarms onto rocket launchers for cluster-barrage strikes. Each hybrid weapon strains their makeshift forge, each upgrade a gamble against catastrophic meltdowns. The robots adapt, though. Towers now pulse with energy shields; hunter-killers evolve alloy exoskeletons. Every hard-fought victory demands another desperate innovation. One rule persists: out-mix the machines, or let the colony’s last light die.
